The Manufacture de la Reine was one of the many Parisian workshops that sought the protection of a member of the royal family to obtain privileges and the prestige of displaying their name and coat of arms on their storefronts and invoices. In return, these manufacturers provided substantial financial compensation to the royal family members, such as the Count of Provence, the Count of Artois, the Duke of Orleans, the Queen, and even the very young 6-year-old Duke of Angoulême. This system came to an end during the Revolution with the abolition of privileges. Queen Marie-Antoinette commissioned services from her own manufacture to furnish her apartments at Fontainebleau, the Tuileries, and her Trianon palace.
