"Jean Alaux Italian Scene"
Charming genre scene made during the first stay of Jean Alaux (1786-1864) at the Villa Medici in Rome between 1817 and 1823. A monk receives two young women in his office. The drawing is executed only in wash. It is signed lower left and is framed in a 19th century oak frame. It is glued directly onto cardboard, is slightly exposed and measures 14.5x19.9 cm without frame.
