Antoine Bouvard (1870-1956) trained as an architect at the Paris School of Fine Arts and was responsible for the construction of the Palais Brogniart (the Stock Exchange). During his numerous trips to Venice, he met Felix Ziem and shared with him his admiration for the atmosphere, the serenity of the waves and especially the effects of light specific to the Serenissima. His works have enjoyed immense success and are exhibited in Salons and are found in collections around the world.
