This particular travel desk was made in France, in the early nineteenth century. It has a carved wooden structure and consists of a flap top, lined inside with leather. Once opened, there are two small drawers that can be rotated with a compass, and two envelope compartments that are created by three wooden panels with a shaped and wavy upper profile. The top, externally both on the front and on the back, is lined with a pleated ocher fabric not coeval. The desk rests on two straight legs that end on two curved and transverse elements composed of two feet each. This system gives lightness to the furniture and as much stability, fundamental for its use.
This desk is a very decorative and unusual object. It can be placed in different places, such as a room or perfect in a study or a room. It can be used, in addition to antique or modern furniture, as a support surface for documents or objects, giving the environment the charm of an era.
