"Rare Pendant Figuring A Crocodile - Ashanti Culture, Mali - 19th Century Or Earlier"
Rare PENDANT depicting a CROCODILE of particular finesse whose head is slightly raised. Its eyes are tapered almond-shaped and its body is entirely marked with checkerboard incisions. On the reverse, a loop allowing it to be hung.
It was also used as a weight used to weigh gold powder.
