"Genre Scene Monkeys Holland 19th In The 17th Taste Van Kessel Century Oil On Canvas"
This work probably dates from the 19th century; it bears the words “Apor” on the white vase, unidentified. Nevertheless, it comes very close, in subject matter and technique, to the Dutch work of the 17th century, widely distinguished for these genre scenes with anthropomorphic animals in the manner of Van Kessel for example. The monkey in the 17th century Dutch is an animal represented in particular because of its resemblance to the human species and its "exotic" dimension in the century of "chinoiseries". The Dutch also interpret it as the representation of certain vices such as lust and pride. The work is in good condition, and shows indisputable know-how.
