The ribbed crystal body registered by the Maison BACCARAT as bambous tors model receives a beautiful solid silver mounting with delicate peignés decoration, the lower part in tulip form resting on a pedestal, the upper part following the neck of the decanter and supporting the body, the stopper in solid silver. The inner parts of the frame are vermeiled, as is the lower part of the stopper.
Hallmarks on both mounts and stopper:
• Minerve 1er titre (French mark for solid silver 950/1000)
• Goldsmith: BOULENGER in full and a crescent.
Paris, second half of the 19th century.
A fine example of the elegant and luxurious production of BOULENGER, founded in 1810 and taken over in 1864 by Adolphe BOULENGER. The maisoon exhibited at most national and international exhibitions, where it was crowned with success, including a silver medal in 1867, a bronze medal in 1878, and gold and silver medals at the 1889 and 1900 exhibitions.
As with most of the elegant silver-mounted crystal models of the period, the linings are vermeiled to avoid the potential damage caused by oxidation, which is visible in transparency and impossible to clean.
