Tibetan carpet with four vases, Kham province, measuring 120 cm wide by 175 cm long. This piece is made of hand-knotted wool, wool from different Provenances, sheep, yaks, horses. The design is pure and full of poetry.
The carpet is in superb condition, velvet, edges and fringes.
Tibet, or formerly Thibet, (Tibetan བོད་, Wylie: Bod, Chinese: 西藏; pinyin: Xīzàng) is a plateau region located north of the Himalayas in Asia, traditionally inhabited by Tibetans and other ethnic groups (mombas, quianget lhobas) It also has a significant population of hans and huis.
Tibet is the highest inhabited plateau on the planet, with an average altitude of 4,900 m.
Under the name "historic Tibet", this area, claimed by the Tibetan government in exile, is made up of three traditional regions:
Ü tsang: the majority of the territory of which is included in the autonomous region of Tibet; Amdo: split between the provinces of Quinshai, Gansu and Sichuan; Kham: whose territory is shared between the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan and the autonomous region of Tibet.
