"A Bronze With Patina “civic Duty” Medal Signed Eugéne Marioton Height 40cm"
a bronze with medal patina signed Eugène Marioton and marked on the facade on the terrace: "Civic duty". It represents an allegory of civics, a young warrior raises a voluntary arm, his weapons resting at his feet. Height 40cm width 12cm. This bronze is in good condition. Eugène Marioton was a student of Auguste Dumont Gabriel-Jules Thomas and Jean Marie Bonnassieux at the Ecole des beaux arts in Paris. In 1883, in the sketch competition, he presented The Daughter of Jephté Coming to Meet Her Father, a terracotta bas-relief2. The same year, he won 1st prize in the competition of the Free Society of Fine Arts with the marble bas relief Héro et Léandre, as well as a grant of 1,200 francs from the General Council of the Seine intended to help young artists without wealth. In 1884, he won 1st prize in Mr. Willemsens' carving competition. In 1888, he was admitted to compete for the 2nd attempt at the Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture. A travel grant, sculpture and medal section, was awarded to him the same year. In 1896, he lived at no. 59 avenue du général Bizot in Paris. He regularly participated in the Salon of the Society of French Artists and became a member of the jury in 1905 in the sculpture section.
