Born in Quinzano d'Oglio on 19 February 1879, he attended the Scuola Comunale di Disegno per Arti e Mestieri in Brescia to devote himself to sculpture.
In Rome, he developed an interest in animal-themed sculpture, which he showed from his early days. Bronze reliefs and plaques, such as the Pig, dominated his production in 1928, the year he presented a group of them at the XCIV Esposizione degli Amatori e Cultori.
