Magnificent covered sugar bowl or bezel, in solid silver. It rests on a square base surrounded by a delicate frieze of palmettes isolated in fine borders; (we find it, as a reminder of the lid, the latter highlighted with rows of dots). Under a plain throat, the cup, wide and generous, its vermillion interior, is flanked by console handles with stylized foliage, topped with winged caryatids; On its lid richly engraved with a decoration of plumes and scrolls of foliage in windings, Cupid on his knees stands out, adorned with his hunting attributes, arrows, bow and his quiver, (According to Roman mythology, anyone who is touched by one of the arrows of this God of love, falls in love with the first person he meets...) The upper part of the lid, forming a saddle, is enhanced with a festoon set with small diamonds. Normal micro-scratches and micro-marks from use. Excellent condition, bezel well preserved over time and already with a beautiful patina, no mechanical polishing, manual maintenance. No dings or dents. Very regular original vermeil. Italian hallmarks for Rome of the period: Papal State (1815-1870) Hallmark for the city, large works, for the title of 889 thousandths on base and cover. Hallmarks for small works inscribed on the handles for title II at 889 thousandths.
