The sculptor Emmanuel Frémiet exhibited the original model at the Salon of 1889. The example offered is from the late 19th/early 20th century, this edition is signed and numbered on its base. The patina is original and in good condition according to its age, the Griotte red marble base is included in the dimension indicated, (total height 41.5 cm) Emmanuel Frémiet was born in Paris, it is at the School of Decorative Arts and in Rude's workshop where he began his training, particularly interested in animal subjects, he also excelled in the representation of great historical characters including Joan of Arc on horseback at Place des Pyramides in Paris, The Archangel Saint-Michel at the top of the Abbey, Napoleon 1st on the site of Laffrey (Isère)...
