"Grand Trumeau 19th Century, Oil Painting On Canvas Cupid Forging His Arrows, Painting And Mirror"
Charming overmantel from the 19th century, composed of a mirror in the lower part and a painting in the upper part. Our oil on canvas shows Cupid, God of love, son of Venus and Mars, represented in the form of an angel forging his arrows. Cupid's arrows are supposed to represent the points of desire in the hearts of Men. Anyone hit by one of his arrows immediately falls in love with the first person they see. Near him, his bow leans against the forge, his quiver rests on the ground. Note traces of oxidation on the mirror without impact on the aesthetics of our trumeau.
