"Louis XVI Style Commode after a model by Jean-.Francois Leleu Commode of slightly curved rectangular shape with curved sides in curly rosewood veneer in marquetry frames resting on four feet. It opens with a belt drawer and two drawers without crossbars flanked by fluted uprights decorated at the top with bronze falls decorated with acanthus leaves, This chest of drawers is of exceptional quality; The bronzes present are very finely chiseled and gilded and stamped. There are friezes , falling pull rings, molded and fluted ingot molds and foliated sabots. The sides of the drawers are lined with mahogany moldings visible when opening, the uprights are in solid mahogany and the marble, very thick 3 cm, is a magnificent breccia. The chest of drawers is based on the famous 18th century model by Jean-François Leleu (1729-1807) kept at the Petit Trianon in Versailles where it was exhibited in 1867 following an exhibition organized at the request from Empress Eugénie in memory of Marie-Antoinette.
