"Osirophore Statue. Egypt XXVIth Dynasty."
This statue represents a priest from the city of Sais in Egypt (capital of the 5th nome of Lower Egypt). The subject holds in his arms a Naos with finely carved Osiris. Two columns of hieroglyphic inscriptions appear on a dorsal pillar (see photo of the survey carried out by Mr. Olivier Perdu, of the Collège de France). This piece will appear in the catalog listing Egyptian monuments in France edited by Mr. Olivier Perdu. Our piece comes from the Bourgade-Maturana collection. Acquired during the public sale of April 25, 1977, master Michel Maignan. Height with base: 21 cm
