"Terracotta Bust "la Camargo""
Terracotta bust from the late 19th and early 20th centuries on a marble base representing Marie Anne Cupis de Camargo known as La Camargo, a famous dancer and actress of the 18th century, by Jean-Jacques Caffieri (Paris 1725-1792). Descendant of a family of sculptor artists, he was a student of J.B. Lemoyne and then a boarder at the Académie de France in Rome. He specialized in sculpting busts. His works appeared at the Salon from 1757 to 1789. The best-known busts are those of the Comédie Française.
