"View Of Montmartre Around 1940, Oil On Canvas, Paris, Naive Art"
View Of Montmartre Around 1940, Oil On Canvas, Paris, Naive Art Interesting naive oil on canvas representing the corner of rue Marcadet with rue du Mont Cenis in Montmartre, around 1940. The painting is in good condition, it is offered in its juice with its original frame. A small anecdotal lack is visible in the photos. The weathered wood and stucco key frame has some visible dents. The chassis measures 54 x 65 cm and the frame measures 74 x 85 cm overall. The building shown is one of the oldest constructions in Montmartre. Originally a mill or a dovecote from the time of the ladies of Montmartre Abbey in the 17th century, the building became part of the Clignancourt porcelain factory in the 18th century. The Café Hotel Restaurant "A la Tourelle" was established there at the very beginning of the 19th century. Maurice Utrillo painted this funny building many times. Extensive documentation is available concerning the history of this place from its origins to the present day. The painting bears a signature to be identified at the bottom right.
