"Ewer, Silver And Crystal, Birmingham 1887, Clairet Jug "
Very elegant silver-mounted crystal decanter with guarantee hallmarks from the city of Birmingham for the year 1887. It has a fairly avant-garde shape for its time. The English call this type of carafe "claret jugs" because they originally used it to serve Clairet de Bordeaux, a fairly deep rosé wine that they favored throughout the nineteenth century.
