This famous sculptor , nicknamed in his time the "Clodion of the 19th century" had an exceptional career.
Coming to settle in Paris at a very young age , Carrier-Belleuse apprenticed with a chiseler in the capital , then worked for the goldsmiths Fauconier and Fannières , encouraged by the sculptor David d'Angers , he entered the School of Fine Arts then followed of the Petite Ecole races and exhibited two bronze medallions at the Salon of 1850 which were very successful.
The following year , he was hired by the English porcelain manufacturer Minton China Work , then returned to France a few years later and enjoyed immense notoriety.
He regularly exhibits at the Salon and is distinguished by the originality of his creations. Quickly, he received numerous private and public commissions, particularly for Les Tuilleries Le Louvre, the Hôtel de Ville, .............
