"Antonio Zen Lamp (1895-1944) - Art Deco"
Very elegant Porcelain baluster lamp. Decor of Piano Keys, from the Antonio ZEN Manufacture Brand under the base Stamp printing. History: Son of the Venetian ceramist Giovanni Battista, Antonio Zen was born in Nove, province of Vicenza, in 1871. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice and at the Nove ceramics school. In 1885 he opened with his father the ceramic factory "GB Zen & Figlio". After the death of his father, Antonio Zen became the owner of the factory, he joined forces with Demetrio Primon, expanded the factory and took the name 'A. Zen Ceramiche'. In 1914 he was appointed mayor of Nove City. In the 1930s, after his son, Giovanni Battista, joined the company, the business name became 'A . Zen & Figlio'. The factory had approximately 70 employees, including three electric kilns and three wood-fired kilns. Much of the production was exported to the Americas. He was a highly skilled ceramist and sculptor of a reputation remarkable. His works are exhibited in numerous exhibitions, in Italy and abroad. Some of his works are exhibited at trade fairs in Padua, Milan, Barcelona, etc. Antonio Zen died in Nove in 1944.
