Hieronymus of Stridon (Stridon ca. 347 – Bethlehem September 30, 420) was an early Christian writer, translator and hermit. In Christianity, he is often considered a doctor of the Church, a father of the Church and a saint. The Roman Catholic Church counts him among the four great fathers of the Western Church. Between 390 and 405, he made a translation of the Bible into current Latin (sermo humilis): the Vulgate. His feast day is September 30 in the Catholic Church and June 15 in the Orthodox Church.
