(Painted on metal plate (zinc I think).

It is This is a representation of the outraged Christ holding a branch in his right hand, certainly referring to the humiliation of Christ when the Roman soldiers wove a crown of thorns which they placed on his head and placed a reed in his head. right hand; then kneeling before Jesus, mocking him, saying: Hail, king of the Jews! (Matthew 27/29).
The reed that was given to Jesus represents the scepter and they adorned him with a crown of thorn (scepter and crown, two symbols of royalty) the symbolism of our painting is further accentuated by the chair representing his throne.
It seems to appear a letter or a monogram at the bottom left, on the block of stone supporting the column Note quite numerous small jumps in pigments and small deformations and the beginnings of folds in the metal plate in certain places (see last photo on this subject).
**This painting really has character**
I haven't been able to take good photos to properly convey its appeal; so she is much more beautiful in reality.
