"Walking Toddler - Toy From Maison César"
Toddler walker from the César house in Saumur (49). Articulated puppet in molded cardboard, hand painted. This character is similar to Little Thumb, very represented in the production of the César company with Pinocchio and Puss in Boots. It may be a young toreador. Documentation on this subject is quite rare; the company seems to have produced few of these toddlers due to not having achieved the expected commercial success. These pieces are therefore uncommon. This one is in good condition, the mechanism only works partially, the legs and arms are movable, not the head. This material made of boiled and molded cardboard is relatively fragile, which justifies the old repairs and repainting of this toddler. Mid-20th century, immediate post-war period.
