"Pair Of Wall Mirrors In Gilded Wood With Caryatids, Italy, 18th Century"
Superb and very rare pair of mirrors with Louis XIV-Regence style candle sconces in wood and gilded stucco. Very rich decorative repertoire with winged female caryatids, palmette and mascaron, in a mixture of acanthus leaf, fruit scraps and staples. The background is squared in a guilloche diamond pattern. These mirrors receive a sculpture made with stucco on a wooden core. These are very decorative pieces that are rare to find in such good condition. The gilding seems to have been redone in the 19th century, it is quite pale but of good quality. The screw threads of the wall lights are handmade and original. A few small touch-ups of moldings here and there. Italy, late 18th century period. Flat delivery on pallet by carrier, 150 euros in France, 300 euros in the EU and 1000 euros rest of the world.
