" Pair Of Complementary Transitional Commodes With Marble Tops"
A very stylish and complementary pair of Louis XV/XVI transitional style commodes, each beautifully decorated in veneered wood with inlaid marquetry, and each topped with a contrasting coloured marble top – one grey, and one with yellow-tinted Breche d’Alep. Each commode is elegantly shaped with a central projection, and opens with two deep and wide drawers fitted with bronze ring handles. The marquetry inlay is musically themed, each front displaying a delicate tableau of musical instruments, scrolls and floral flourishes, perfectly arranged for ornamental effect, and set within an oval médaillon. Bronze trimmings and mounts add interest to the lower aprons and sides, and both are supported over four elegant cabriole legs. These attractive little commodes are full of character, and would make perfect matching bedside tables, or provide extremely stylish storage for a musically-minded antiques lover.
