Important Empire period clock in bronze with double patina illustrating knowledge. A standing antique woman leans on books placed on the movement protected by a terminal-shaped drapery. Important cherry red marble base with a frieze representing geography, the arts, knowledge and sculpture. Attributed to the bronzier Pierre-Victor LEDURE. Ep.early 19th century. H.70 L.41 P.17. An identical clock was ordered for the Salon “des Princes” in the Emperor's apartments at the Château de Compiègne.
