There have been numerous earthenware factories in Desvres since the middle of the 18th century. It owes its success to its handmade decor incorporating the main decorative styles of major manufacturers such as Rouen, Delft, Moustiers...
The earthenware factory of Jean-François Sta (1726-1803) was founded in 1764. It was bought in 1802 by his cousin, Alexandre Dupré-Poulain and then closed definitively in 1810.
The production consisted, among other things, of jugs of seated women and earthenware whose reverse side is enameled in dirty yellow with crude decorations of horsemen in blue or manganese.
There are no known marks for 18th century pieces.
