Léopold Franz Kowalski (1856 Paris - 1931) “sunday Journey”

Sunday Outing A river section painted in a dynamic and relaxed style with two elegant ladies on a gondola. Presumably a study for a painting by Kowalski, who liked to paint upper-class young women in flowing dresses, often enjoying outdoor activities. The French artist of Polish origin first studied with Henri Lehmann at the École des Beaux-Arts and from 1879 at the Académie Julian. From 1881, he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon. Oil/canvas, lined. Inscribed by an unknown hand on the reverse with artist's note. 26cm x 34cm. Frame.
