Marble From The Grand Tour, Mary Magdalene Penitent Early 19th Century flag

Object description :

"Marble From The Grand Tour, Mary Magdalene Penitent Early 19th Century"
Astonishing neoclassical sculpture in white marble dating from the end of the 18th century, beginning of the 19th century,
probably a souvenir of the grand tour, representing a beautiful young woman in a dress with very elaborate draping, in the antique style. with long, wavy hair, a melancholy face and leaning on an antique column decorated with ivy.
a crown perhaps a crown of thorns at her feet which could remind us of a penitent Mary Magdalene or an allegory of melancholy, a memorabilia.
beautiful old patina and a beautifully fine sculpture in the marble.
the top of the skull seems to have a consolidation cement with the same patina as the rest, perhaps for a repentance at the level of the face.
Two fingers are missing from his left hand.
perhaps also a piece of thyrsus in the right hand.

a very touching neoclassical sculpture, a beautiful work of great finesse.
