Geoffroy Chocarne's paintings are mainly painted between 1820 and 1860, he is present at the Paris Salon from 1938 where he presents very elegant portraits but those are the very luminous genre scenes - seeming to be painted on porcelain - which are very popular with the public in the first part of the 19th century. The vast majority of his works are in private collections. Berthe Morisot was his student when Chocarne taught painting and drawing in Paris.
