"Pair Of Elephants In Gilded Copper, Tibet 19th Century"
Pair of embossed copper plates gilded with mercury. They represent two richly harnessed elephants. The heads are turned backwards and the elephants wear a bell around their necks. The saddles are richly decorated while the heads and backs are topped with Buddhist jewels.
It is rare to have a pair.
Mercury-gilded copper, red pigment.
