LUCIUS VERUS, Roman emperor.
Bronze bust with brown patina.
Nervous and precise carving, rich and deep patina.
Foundry stamp SB, marked in cursive letters on the side “Société des bronzes”.
Height: 47 cm, Width. 23 cm.

Adoptive brother and co-emperor with Marcus Aurelius, Lucius Verus (130-169) is identifiable by his curly hair, as on the bronze preserved in the Louvre from the Campana collection. Provenance: private collection from a 17th century Parisian apartment.
