Old painting, oil on wood, French school dating from the beginning of the 20th century. The scene represents a Siamese cat near a Buddha, the work is titled Mistou and received the honor of the picture rail. Good condition, well framed, see photos. Beautiful format. Laure Alice Yvonne Brunel is the daughter of Alfred Arthur Brunel, painter, and Louise Félicité Neuville. She was a student of her father, then of Gérôme, and specialized in animal painting, mainly cats. She exhibited at the Salon from 1900 and became a member of the Salon des artistes français in 1908. In 1913, she married the journalist and aviator André Bellot in Algiers. In 1934, she was certified as an air painter. Deported during the Second World War, she died at the age of 65 in the Nazi concentration camp of Ravensbrück. Dimensions outside the frame: 81 cm / 65 cm. with frame: 111 cm / 95 cm.
