Abstract composition. Oil on canvas. French school mid-20th century. Dripping technique. Dripping consists of making superpositions of several colors by dripping the paint through the pierced bottom of a container that the artist moves above his work, thus obtaining drips and squirts. This gestural painting called "action painting" was popularized by the work of Jackson Pollock. This result can also be obtained by dipping a brush in very liquid paint and letting it flow.
