"Les Mystères De Paris Commode Stool, 19th Century Restauration Period"
Commode stool from the Restauration period, France, 19th century, Circa 1830-1840, the base in mahogany stained wood, and the upper part made up of a stack of false bindings with a cover to receive the container. This object or piece of furniture of curiosity whose primary usefulness can be diverted today as a piece of sofa or other, attests to the well-targeted humor of the time with the bindings often bearing the name "the mysteries of Paris" like this -this, or sometimes "Travels in the Netherlands". In good used condition, tan leather bordered with wooden molding was added later.
