"Japan - Jizai Okimono, Articulated Bone Lobster, 57 Pieces - Meiji Period."
JAPAN - Meiji period (1868 - 1912) Impressive Jizai Okimono depicting a partially lacquered bone lobster, it is made up of more than 57 pieces all articulated together. Dimensions: 34 x 18 x 13 cm Note: The Jizai is an okimono typical of the Meiji era when Japan emerged from the feudal era. As the Samurai tradition is set to disappear, the best craftsmen are turning to the manufacture of these articulated objects (crustaceans, insects) whose assemblies use the same techniques as those for assembling armor and require great dexterity.
