"Painted Screen 4 Leaves In The Taste Of Zuber Early 19th Century"
Charming early 19th century screen painted in gouache on paper. Unique representation in the taste of Neapolitan gouaches. This is not a panoramic decoration by Zuber but a painting executed in the style of the panoramic decorations very fashionable at that time. Representation of a scene of daily port life from the New World. Lively with numerous characters at work, the foreground at the bottom is decorated with a decoration of balusters; a mountain range can be seen at the bottom of the bay. The back is painted with a faux gray trompe l'oeil marble. Note fine cracks due to the age and fineness of the paper which contribute to the charm of the object. Multi-position hinges. Canvas reinforcement at the contemporary bottom. Measurements: height 1.70, width 0.47 x 4 = 1.88
