Louis XVI / Directory period armchair. Late 18th century around 1790. In the style of Georges JACOB. The armchair is made of beech and has its original lacquer. It rests on four spindle legs with grooves and capitals. The connecting dice are carved with rosettes. The seat belt has crosspieces hollowed out and sculpted with grooves except at the rear. The front crosspiece is curved, with projections. The armrest consoles are recessed, with bulging and fluted balusters, resting on a die decorated with a triglyph. The armrests with sleeves end in a fluted rounding and are connected to the backrest by a grooved thimble. The back is arched, trapezoidal in shape, with detached columns, sculpted with grooves and topped with cassolettes with gadrooned lids and buttons. The back frame is decorated with a row of pearls. The upper and lower crosspieces are carved with heart spokes. Strap and spring trim in good condition. Fabric in good condition. Dimensions: L 57 x D 50.5 x H 91 Seat height: 42
