"Pair Of Empire Candlesticks, In Patinated And Gilded Bronze By Ravrio, Early 19th Century"
Pair of candlesticks in quiver barrel with sides, the binet in vase with gadroons. Patinated and mercury-gilded bronze, Empire period, circa 1806-1808. Our pair of candlesticks is a close variation of a model created by Ravrio around 1808 and supplied in several copies to Imperial furniture for the Château de Fontainebleau. Some differences in the moldings of the terrace, but the identical line and the quality of the finishes allow them to be attributed to Ravrio. André Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814) is with Thomire and Claude Galle one of the greatest bronze casters in the Empire, supplier to Emperor Napoleon I. Quality model, very elegant, they are made up of 9 independent pieces (the more there are, the higher the quality), gilded with fine gold (mercury gilding). Beautiful sober and finely crafted decor. They are in very good condition, no missing, no deformation, gilding and patina still present but slightly faded. Height: 26.5cm
