"Saint Veronica, Germany 16th Century"
Linden wood sculpture representing Saint Veronica. The face is of great finesse, the long nose, the half-open mouth reveals part of the teeth, she wears the wimple, the cape is pleated on the top of her forehead and connected by a circular button on the top of her chest. She holds with both hands the veil with which Jesus Christ wiped his forehead. The face was miraculously imprinted there, hence the belief in Véronique's veil. Some gaps. Germany or Eastern France, 16th century.
