Elegant Seventeenth-century Roman Mirror Frame.

Interesting and rare octagonal frame from the Roman context from the second half of the seventeenth century and containing a contemporary mirror.

The fascinating object is characterized by being composed of different materials: the frame is made of ebonized wood and the edges are carved in various carving styles, while the body of the frame features gilded bronze plaques decorated with a burin which frame and contain a oval marble inlay. Each plate includes a marble inlay of different types and different colours.

A bronze cymatium with phytoform decoration and containing a winged cherub has been applied to each side of the frame.

The object of rare quality for construction and conservation of the original elements still retains its original and antique mirror.

The maximum overall dimensions of this mirror are 42cm x 38cm, the external frame measures 30cm x 26 while the internal light measures are 19cm x 15cm.
