"Junkun Nigeria Stake Statue"
Rare top of Junkun post, in very hard almost fossilized wood, height 36 cm with a significant patina of use, greasy in places, numerous traces of blows (rituals?). The flat face is characteristic with the 2 large earlobes falling to the sides, the copper studded eyes, the 2 hands on the stomach in a protective gesture, the protruding navel.
These pole statues were planted in the ground near the fields as a guarantee of protection and a good harvest.
