"Small Drum Table, Louis XVI Style – Late 19th Century"
This small cylindrical living room table rests on three faceted legs covered in Rosewood and Thuya ending in small brass shoes. It presents in the belt a drawer with a lens button and an inlaid front, potted plants, stained wood and garlands. Below, the door, with a brass pull handle, has a rosewood veneer surround arranged like a butterfly wing. This underlines a marquetry frame decorated with various musical instruments and flowers within two laurel branches. The other sides of this small piece of furniture, inlaid in the same spirit, have motifs of torches and quivers. The top features a scene, also inlaid, of a woman and her child picking. Original with its tripod base, this table will appeal to lovers of small and charming period furniture. ******** Period: Late 19th Century Excellent condition Waxed finish on hard base.
