*Jacques Wolmans (Brussels, 1919 - Braine-l'Alleud, 1991) was a painter whose studies in technical engineering only deepened his passion for art. He found inspiration in the sea and the Breton coasts, which he discovered in 1951. Each of his works is a painting of tranquility and harmony, depicting small white fishing houses, colorful fishing boats, and serene skies. The press describes his pastel blues, grays, faded greens, and charming yellows as more surprising than ever. Here and there, a touch of tempered red highlights an awning, while a boat floats with the ebb and flow of the waves. All of this is Wolmans—a testament to tenderness, full of wisdom. Tribute exhibitions were held at the "Centre Rops" in Brussels in 1996 and 1999. He is mentioned in BAS I and in "Two Centuries of Artist Signatures from Belgium."
