Description: This painting, dating back to around 1840, is characterized by its meticulous and delicate chromatic composition, which enhances, through the contrast of luminous tones, the freshness of the model's complexion. The portrait falls within the scope of works typically representative of Natale Schiavoni's taste, depicting young, beautiful women posing with a flirtatious and ecstatic gaze. Born in Chioggia on April 25, 1777, Natale Schiavoni, a self-taught artist from a young age, perfected his skills in drawing and engraving. In 1792, he moved to Venice where he remained until 1797, attending the Academy for three years under the guidance of Francesco Maggiotto. After the fall of the Serenissima, he moved to Trieste, achieving considerable success as a miniaturist among the wealthy bourgeoisie. In 1805, he moved to Milan, establishing friendships with Gaetano Monti, Andrea Appiani, Giuseppe Bossi, and Giuseppe Longhi, who helped him refine his engraving technique. After Napoleon's fall, in 1816, he relocated to Vienna at the request of Emperor Francis I, serving as a court portraitist. He returned to Venice in 1823, dedicating himself to oil painting and creating a large number of portraits, especially nudes and female half-figures, earning him the nickname "painter of the Graces."
