Adolf Loos AUSTRIAN, 1870-1933 Essentially dubbed the Frank Lloyd Wright of Europe by Wright himself, Adolf Loos possessed a talent for architecture and interior design as powerful as his open criticism of Art Nouveau and excessive ornamentation. A pioneer of the International Style, Loos demonstrated immense restraint in his building projects as well as in his designs of chairs, tables, cabinets and other furniture, and wrote prolifically about his disdain for the decorative approach of architecture.
