Large Antique Gusset Watch, Men's Model In 18 Carat Gold, Goldsmith S G One Key, Excellent Condition

Very fine 18 ct gold gousset watch for men, simple model with a convex frieze of gadroons on the case edge, followed by a series of smooth fillets that blend into the edges of the bezel glass and case back.

Bears the goldsmith's hallmark of a diamond SG with a key in the middle and the gold hallmark of a horse's head (1838-1919).
Gross weight: 75.98g / Gold weight: approx. 30 g
The glass is in very good condition, with no noticeable scratches, the bezel part has a beveled edge, and the enameled dial is also in very good condition.
Interestingly, the Roman numeral hour markers are also lined with Arabic numerals; a smaller, slightly recessed dial also features a second hand that can be used as a chronometer.
The beautifully engine-turned caseback is engraved with the finely chased initials JD (I think); the counter case, also in gold, is in excellent condition, as is this entire high-quality watch.
The very clean movement works perfectly, the hinge is impeccable, as is the setting ring.
All components (except the movement and winding knob) bear the 18ct gold giraffe head hallmark.
It should only be noted that the gold "lining" of the winding mechanism is largely worn.
This watch comes from the Bordeaux jeweller, "J.Fontan", who still has a luxury jewelry boutique "Maison Fontan" at 24 Allée de Tourny, Bordeaux.
