Nephew of the painter Sebastiano Ricci, Marco Ricci, is a painter and engraver born in Belluno in 1676 and died in Venice in 1729, remarkable for his landscapes and his perspectives. After working in England, he returned to Venice to collaborate with his uncle through whom he came under the influence of Neapolitan landscape painters. He was also the main representative and precursor of the tradition of landscape painters in the city of the Doges. In the last years of his life, the subject of classical ruins punctuated the creations of imaginary landscapes. Finally, he was a great source of inspiration for the famous painter Guardi.
