Constantin Guys (1802-1892) is known for his representations of daily life in the Second Empire and admired for his reasons by Baudelaire in his aesthetic critiques. Constantin Guys' drawings are generally unsigned, they were sold in sheets and at low prices in shops around the Louvre. The drawing is framed in a Louis XVI style gilded baguette and measures 14.5x14.2 cm without frame.
