This work is not signed but it has the features and treatment of this artist. The frame is in carved and patinated wood in the Montparnasse style. It is in very good general condition. A student of Albert Maignan and Léon Bonnat, he exhibited every year at the Salon des artistes français from 1897, became a member of the jury there and was classified as out of competition. Knight of the Legion of Honor, his works are kept at the Luxembourg Museum and the Petit-Palais as well as in numerous fine arts museums, among others, in Philadelphia, Sydney, Pau, Saint-Étienne, Bourges, Vierzon or Roubaix.
